A peaceful aquarium fish native to the freshwater habitats of South America. It uses its sucker-like mouth to scrape algae and deposits from surfaces. Males are easily recognized by the characteristic bristle-like growths on their heads. It is a useful and easy-to-keep species, but besides algae, it also requires additional plant-based food.
